Developed in the early 90’s by Mr Rob McKinlay “Austral Park” Arcadia Valley Queensland. Nearly the entire herd was purchased by Santaco Rural Agency for a client when the Austral Park property was sold. Neil and Rosalie got the opportunity to acquire some of the best heifers and the pick of the black poll santa sires, hence their commencement of Watasanta Blacksantas.

These cattle have been run and operated purely as a top end commercial herd with seed stock breeding principles applied. The black poll santa was bred from putting black santa bulls over black santa females for nearly 20 years, stabilizing the type of animal genetically.

They combine the best attributes of both breeds - the dominate black and poll genes of the Angus and the slick coat and good skin type of the Santa Gertrudis, with the weight gain and hardiness of the Santa Gertrudis also.
